Information for Candidates Participating in CVTV Local Election Programming
Each year CVTV produces primary and general local election programming to help inform our viewers about the candidates and issues. CVTV election programming generally consists of candidate interviews, a Video Voters' Guide and election night results. There is no charge or fee for participating in CVTV election programming.

2024 Election Coverage
Candidates for the following races will be asked to participate in our General Video Voters' Guide:
U.S. Representative, 3rd Congressional District; State Senator and State Rep. Pos. 2, 17th Legislative District; State Senator and State Rep. Pos. 1 & 2, 18th Legislative District; State Rep. Pos. 1, 20th Legislative District; State Senator and State Rep. Pos. 1 & 2, 49th Legislative District; Clark County Council, District No. 3 & 4; Clark Public Utility District Commissioner, District No. 1
*In addition, Clark County Council Dist. 3 and 4 candidates will also be asked to participate in our candidate interviews.
Candidates will be contacted using the information provided when they filed for office.
Video Voters' Guide
Statements are recorded in the CVTV studio located in Vancouver City Hall.
The candidate’s statement should address the question: “What are your qualifications for office and why should citizens vote for you?”
Candidate statements are not edited and limited to three minutes.
No posters, charts or other visual materials may be visible during the candidate’s statement.
No branded campaign materials can be worn including, but not limited to, shirts, hats, buttons, etc.
Candidate statements may not solicit funds or contain obscene, profane, libelous, or defamatory language.
A teleprompter (a computerized screen that displays text in front of the camera lens) is available for your use.
Clothing suggestions: do not wear white or green; do not wear stripes or busy patterns.
Primary Election Candidate Interviews
Interviews are recorded in the CVTV studio located in Vancouver City Hall.
Interviews will be conducted with each candidate separately by a non-partisan host.
The host will ask each candidate participating in the interviews the same or similar questions.
Interviews will not be edited and limited to 10 minutes.
Clothing suggestions: do not wear white or green; do not wear stripes or busy patterns. Branded campaign clothing or buttons are not allowed.
General Election Candidate Interviews
Interviews are recorded in the CVTV studio located in Vancouver City Hall.
Candidates will be interviewed by a non-partisan host side-by-side with their opponent.
The host will ask each candidate participating in the interviews the same or similar questions.
Interviews will not be edited and limited to 30 minutes.
Clothing suggestions: do not wear white or green; do not wear stripes or busy patterns. Branded campaign clothing or buttons are not allowed.
Use of Still Images or Video Clips from CVTV Election Programing in Campaign Materials
Still images or video clips from CVTV footage, including stills or footage obtained pursuant to the Washington State Public Records Act (Ch. 42.56 RCW), is in no way intended by CVTV, the City of Vancouver, or Clark County to directly or indirectly promote or oppose any candidate for public office or any ballot proposition.
If a candidate utilizes a still image or video clip taken from CVTV election programming where the CVTV logo is visible in any campaign materials (advertisements, websites, flyers, etc.), the following disclaimer must be clearly visible on the campaign materials: "Use of CVTV footage is in no way intended by CVTV, the City of Vancouver, or Clark County to directly or indirectly promote or oppose any candidate for public office or any ballot proposition."
If you are utilizing CVTV footage that does not display the CVTV logo or does not promote or oppose any candidate for public office or ballot proposition, there is no need to display the above disclaimer.
CVTV is the local government, non-commercial cable access channel operated and funded by the City of Vancouver and Clark County, Washington. Please note that RCW 42.17A.555 prohibits use of public facilities for the purpose of assisting a campaign for election of any person to any office or for the promotion of or opposition to any ballot proposition.
